SHOEI is a Japanese company that produces a popular line of motorsport helmets. Has been dedicated to the development of superior helmet technology and all helmet parts. Transitions Photochromic technology allows visors to automatically and seamlessly change from clear to dark in sunlight. The process works when photochromic dyes embedded into the lens or shield react to UV light, changing levels of darkness with the sun. When UV light is removed, a chemical reaction driven by ambient heat reconverts the activated photochromic molecules to their original, clear form and the lens fades. Anti-reflective Coating. Pinlock ready. Manufactured by Transitions, the leading manufacturer of photochromatic lenses world-wide.

I've had this visor for about 2 years. Although I wish it got a little darker it's still pretty cool. The best part about it is you don't have to ride with your visor up at night or bring a clear visor with you if you are out riding and it gets dark. I just ride with sunglasses on and put them in my jacket pocket when the sun goes down.I have regular glasses so being able to have this change shades automatically is key. They are expensive but 100% worth the money. Easy to clip in and out, solid, and change from dark to clear quickly without noticing.Clarity is amazing! high quality here, darkens quickly being "medium/dark" in color very solid/rigid open/close action with pin lock. Price point could be improved a bit.Bought 2 years ago for rf1200, 25k miles of use, works as advertised. Long days in the sun require sun screen as I have experienced sun burn, so not convinced it is blocking 100% uva/uvb. Day/night, hot/cold transition works excellent. I forget it’s even on there until I see others fooling with their sunglasses. I’m only writing this review because the molded plastic channels that attach the shield to the helmet have failed. Since I have no experience with the stock shield on this helmet, I have nothing to compare as far as durability. Shoei designed this latch/positioning system to make it simple to swap shields and allow multiple venting positions which it does very well, however it is a bit on the delicate side imo. Bottom line is the transition part of the lens is a 10/10, the attachment durability is a 7/10, value 3/10. The price has gone up $35, I’m on the fence now as I have a new clear shield and sunglasses in the box.If you're thinking about it.. do it. Sure, another factory shield is only $70. Do you want to carry a shield and swap it out everytime the light changes? Besides that won't be a perfect shade. This is always a perfect shade, all the time. No more sunglasses, no more extra visors, no more stopping to swap them out. Just spend the $200 and forget about it and love wearing your helmet. You'll look like a badass during the day (and protect your eyes) and by night you'll be safe and easy seeing. I've recommended it to all my friends.I don't have to worry about keeping sunglasses with me on the bike anymore and I absolutely love that. This visor is perfect for me because it's dark in the morning when I go to work, and it's sunny outside when I leave work to go home. The visor gets dark enough to where the sun doesn't bother me and I'm able to see with no issues. I will update this review when the transition part stops working. So far it's been great though.Well spend money. Working great on sunny day did not get chance to ride after gets dark but definitely happy with the shieldNice. Doesn’t get fully dark or clear but the transition is fairly quick and beats wearing sunglasses. Read the reviews and need to keep it in the dark when not in use to prolong the element. Expensive but worth it so far. If it lasts only a couple of years before it degrades it will be a poor purchase.Having used a flip helmet with extra internal drop down dark visor, I went back to the simplicity of a having a quality full face helmet. I never liked using the dark drop visor while the main visor was closed. This photocrhromatic visor is a perfect addition to a brilliant helmet. It adapts to the required tint fast enough but so far hasn't got too dark to see through. My helmet is white with a simple graphic colour scheme, and the dark visor suits it really well. All in all very happy, fast delivery and the price was better than anywhere else. Highly recommended.I love this thing.I used to always wear a light tint visor and in comparison, this goes much much darker in direct sunlight. The advantage of the slow tint nature of this visor means that you don't really notice how dark it gets. It keeps everything looking the same :)I took 1* off because of the crazy price.Convenient? Sure.Lets hope it lasts a long time as it cost 1/2 as much as the helmet it sits on.Pricey but totally worth it. Been using this every day on the way to work in a very sunny climate for several months now, and changing visors or dropping down the ugly internal visor is a thing of the past. Completely forgotten that multiple visors is even a thing, totally seamless experience. Not quite as dark as the darkest tint out there, but good enough!Thought I'd use the visor for a bit before writing a review. Was a push going for this considering the price but I must say it does the job amazingly. Couldn't imagine riding without it now. When the suns blaring the visor goes completely black, can't see face through it. And goes back to fully clear in clouds super fast. Top notchPricey but solves the problem of the low sun in winter and the variable English weather if you don't have (like me) a drop down sun visor. Fits my XXS sized NXR lid perfectly.
